The Father’s Mandate February 2, 2010

Hello Everyone!

We pray all is well with you and your family’s.  We had such a wonderful time last session and we look forward to fellowshipping with you all this Friday.  We are going to be discussing and hearing the message on The Father’s Mandate this week.  We will also briefly discuss our assignment form last session on making every effort to make sure our spouse’s love language is fulfilled or met. 

Next Session

The next session will be at 7pm at our Clubhouse on Friday, February 5th. If you need directions, please refer to the previous blog for that information.  If you are bringing your children and you were unable to attend the last session, please stop by the clubhouse for directions to our home.  We will have two sitters and are asking you to be blessing to them by donating $3.00 per child. 

Food Theme

This weeks theme will be Mexican night. Bring your favorite already heated dish.  Like last session we now eat during the session.  The kids will eat nuggets, chips, and there will be fruit cups and applesauce available.  Please feel free to bring your own food or snacks if this is not to your liking :0).

Hello Everyone!

We pray everyone had a great time with family and friends this holiday season.  We are so excited to see everyone and get back into our wonderful series.  Please see below for more information.

Assignment

We will be discussing and listening to Session 3 Touchpoints of Love.   We will be learning the importance of recognizing your touchpoint as well as your spouses and children.  Many of you may also know these as “Love Languages”.   Please be ready to discuss this session with the group.  If you are new to the group or have not had the opportunity to get the book , the workbook can be purchased online at http://www.gfi.org/java/jsp/cust_store.jsp.  The title is Growing Kids God’s Way ( Virtuous Way) Student Workbook.  The list price is $18.95.  If you purchase it online it is $18.00

Meeting Place and Time

We will be meeting at Halton Park Clubhouse Friday, January 15th at 7pm (directions below).  The way this will work is the children will be supervised  by two babysitters in our apartment.  Please come to the clubhouse first and we will direct you to our home.  We will provide chicken nuggets, cheese pizza, and fruit cups for the children.   The adults will have the session in the actual clubhouse theatre.  Please remember that we always want to bless our sitters with $3.00 per child.

Theme

We are going to take advantage of all the great deals going on in the pizza world.  Please bring your favorite pizza cooked.  We will be eating and discussing the session at the same time.  K and I will provide drinks and Italian sausage pizza.  Feel free to bring breadsticks and your favorite wings too!

If you are coming from I-77 south or North I-77 you should know how to get to Sesame Street, “just kidding”, you should know how to get to I-85…

From 85 N: Take 85 South to I485 ,
Take 2ND exit (Route 49 Harrisburg exit); stay left off exit, then make left;

once you cross over 485, make a U-turn; then make right turn into complex, follow street down to club house on left, then PARK!!!

From 85 S: Take 85 North then follow same directions above (to 485 exit…..) ignore concord mills blvd note!

From Harrisburg: Head towards Charlotte; after CiCi’s Pizza and Oak Leigh Drive, make right into complex, swerve left until you see Clubhouse.

From I485 Pineville /Mint Hill/Harrisburg Rd/Rocky River Rd area:
I485 to North/East towards concord; Take Route 49 Harrisburg exit; once off exit stay to left at light (you will see Club house on left; make left at light, then make U- Turn; right into complex, club house on left then PARK!!!!

If you are Facing Club house main Entrance is to the left of entrance (you will see sign over door (Movie Theater) 

PLEASE PARK IN FRONT OF CLUB HOUSE OR ELSE  YOU WILL BE TOWED!!!!!!

DON’T PARK ACROSS FROM CLUB HOUSE UNLESS YOU PARK INFRONT OF DUMPSTER IT SELF

Touchpoints of Love December 2, 2009

Hello Everyone,

We had an awesome time last session.  For those of you who were unable to make it we look forward to seeing you this Friday!

Next Session

The next session will be at our home on Friday, December 4th at 7pm.  We will discuss the last session homework.  Dad’s be ready to share about how often you had couch time, what did you do, and how did your children respond.   Also, everyone be ready to share some activities that would move parents away from “child centeredness”.  This week we will be reviewing session 3 Touchpoints of Love. Please be ready to discuss review questions.

Theme

Our theme this week is subs and more.  K and I will provide the buns, turkey, mustard, mayo, drinks, and dessert.  Everyone bring your favorite meat or veggie, condiment, and/or side dish.  Please let everyone know what you are bringing by commenting below. See you on Friday!!

Raising a Moral Child November 13, 2009

We had an awesome time fellowshipping and learning how to raise a moral child.  I can’t wait to hear how you were able to apply this into your relationship with your children!

Prayer Request

Shannika- Please pray for her son Malik, he was ill

Dawn- Please continue to pray for the Martinsen family and the loss of their little girl

Church Family- We have put our home up for sale and we are praying for a buyer! We will share more with you during our next session. :0)

Next session- 

The next session will be on Saturday November 21 st at 11:00 am.  Due to Seek Night being on Friday we needed to find a different day and time.  We will be reviewing last weeks homewor assignment.  For those of you who do not have your books the questions were how providing the moral or practical “why” of instruction helped your child with a right response ?
If your child is characterized by asking why, note whether giving the moral reason helps curb that behavior. Determine into which of the three categories your child’s why questions fall:

*the why of curiosity (non-moral)
*the why of comprehension (moral)
*the why of challenge (moral defining)

Remember to support your moral reasons with Scripture according to the child’s level of understanding.  Also, please read and be ready to discuss the next session entitled Right Beginnings.

Ladies Night

Ok, we are set for November 21st at 6:30pm.  I wanna take a poll on what you would like to do either dinner and a movie or movie and dessert.  Let me know if you are coming and what you think by Wednesday so I can make reservations if needed.

How to Raise a Moral Child November 2, 2009

Hello Everyone!

It was so wonderful meeting all of you last Friday.  For those of you who were unable to attend we will have a brief recap and then get right into our first session.  If you have not purchased your workbook yet, you may do so at http://www.gfi.org/java/jsp/cust_store.jsp.  The book is entitled Growing Kids God’s Way ( virtuous way) Student Handbook.  We also had an homework assignment last week.  However, this will not be due until we complete session 3.   Please be ready to discuss Session 1 How to Raise a Moral Child pgs. 19-26. 

Prayer Request

Stan- Please pray for his friend’s Eric’s father who was in a car accident.

Dawn- Please pray for her friends the Martinsen’s daughter Victoria who is in the last stages of cancer.

Kim- Pray that God will give her clear direction on His will for her life. Should she go back to work or stay home with Trinity.

Ruel and Shelly- Pray that God will give them clear direction on His will for thier life.

Chanda- Pray for complete healing of Grave’s Disease.

Growing Kids God’s Way October 24, 2009

Hello Everyone,

Kenrick and I would like to welcome you to Life Group.  We are so excited about what Freedom House Church is doing and now everyone has the opportunity to get involved and find what you like and need.  Below you will find information about the workbook purchase, session times, meeting place, childcare, and food themes. 

Workbook Purchase:

The workbook can be purchased online at http://www.gfi.org/java/jsp/cust_store.jsp.  The title is Growing Kids God’s Way ( Virtuous Way) Student Workbook.  The list price is $18.95.  If you purchase it online it is $18.00.  Now I have looked at LifeWay, Books a Million, and Amazon and have not been able to locate it.  If you find it cheaper, please let us know.  We all like a great deal! :0)  Also, please do not feel like you cannot come if you don’t have a book.

Session Time and Place

The first session will be at our home on Friday, October 30th.  Please look in your email for directions.  Our meet and greet will begin at 7:00pm.  We will do some ice breakers and review what Life Group is all about.

Childcare

We are planning on having a minimum of two sitters.  This way we can put the little ones in a separate room from the older children.  We are asking that everyone bring $3.00 per child.  We want to be a blessing to our sitters.

Food Theme

We always like to have a food theme for every session.  Kenrick and I will be providing the treats this week.  The theme is appetizers and desserts.  If you would like to bring something, please feel free.  We will also provide drinks. 

Lastly, if you could please subscribe to this blog, that would be great.  This way when ever I post a new blog you will automatically be notified.  If you are unsure on how to do this we can walk through it during our session.

This just in…..Life Group!! Important announcement October 6, 2009

Hello Everyone,

Due to recent communications stemming from the senior pastors at Freedom House Church regarding life groups, we have been asked to postpone all life group sessions and activities until after the official kick-off event scheduled for Sunday, October 18th.  Please stay tuned for information regarding our life group as well as our planned events such as our Men Night Out (tentatively rescheduled for Sunday, October 18th) Time to be announced.

Hello everyone!

Can you believe how fast time goes by?  It is that time, time for us to start growing together.  God has laid a special series on K’s heart called “War of the Worlds”.  It is taught by Pastors Dennis and Colleen Rouse of Victory World Church in Atlanta ,Georgia.  We are excited to begin this new series and we also have some exciting new things to share with you regarding LDG’s at FHC. See ya there!

Meeting Date: Friday, October 2nd    

Time: 7:00pm       

Place: Church Residence

Let’s put what we have learned into action!!! August 23, 2009

Hello Everyone,

Now that we have completed the awesome series “Honor’s Reward”, Kenrick and I would like to put what we have learned into action by honoring our Pastors.  I called Makeda last week to generate some ideas on what the pastors like personally and collectively.  She gave some really good suggestions and we thought the best way to go are gift cards.  So…we decided to make this a gift from our Life Group…yippee…!  We are asking if every family could bless the pastors with whatever amount your family give.  You can give the money to K and I anytime up to next Sunday August 20th.  We will be serving in Planet Zion both the first and second services next week so you can stop by there if you’d like.  Once all money is received we will let you know which gift cards we will able to purchase.

Hey Everyone!

We pray everyone is well and enjoying the rest of your summer.  We would like to conclude our Honor’s Reward series at our home this Saturday, August 15th at 11am.  Due to Kids Kamps, Family Reunions, and other activities we were unable to set a date until now.  If you are able to join us for Brunch, please reply below with your dish.   K and I will provide fruit, hash brown casserole, and orange juice.  We will see you then! :0)
