T.G. I. F. (Thank God It’s Friday)

A time to grow together

What’s Next? April 29, 2009

We had an awesome time learning about the importance of honoring our parents and spouses.  Many of us have struggled with showing honor towards our parents in the past and realize the importance of asking God for forgiveness, them for forgiveness, forgiving ourselves, and making every effort to do better. Ephesians 6:2-3 Honor  your father and mother that it will be well with you and you live a long life.

Praise Reports

Thankful for God’s provision in the midst of all that is going on around us!

 Prayer Request

Tonia and her relationship with her mother. That her visit will be a positive one

Continue to pray for Kim’s husband Raymond and him finding a job

Chanda and her returning to work in the fall that she will be where God wants her to be.

Michael Sears that God will provide him with a job.

 Next Session

The next session will be on Friday, May 8th at 7:00 pm.  The session is entitled Honoring Church Authority.  We will be meeting at our home.

What’s Your Story ???

After hearing Pastor Penny’s message two Sundays ago, K and I felt it important to start sharing our stories.  SO… what we decided is that everyone will have an opportunity to share their story with the group.  If you are like me, I will most likely have to write it out in order to keep my thoughts straight, but it is completely up to you.  What we are going to do is allow one to two people share their story at a session.   We will decide exactly who will share at which session on May 8th.

All the Ladies…

Hey ladies it is time to have some girl time.  I would like you to think about which of the three dates will work best for you May 23rd, May 30th, or June 6th.  All of these dates are Saturdays.  I was thinking dinner and maybe a movie, depending on what’s playing.  Dinner at 6:00pm???  We can discuss it more on the May 8th.  Guys you will have your turn soon :0)!

Food Theme

The Great Outdoors. Bring your favorite cookout food. Hamburger, hot dogs, sausage, chicken, potato salad, macaroni salad, salad salad , baked beans etc. ;0)!  Some of you have been forgetting so as a reminder, Please leave a comment below letting us know what you will be bringing. Kenrick and I will be providing drinks, fruit, and dessert.

This session taught us a lot about honoring those in civil leadership.  Everyone had great examples on their personal experiences with civil authority and how it reminded us how important it is to pick our battles and use wisdom.  We need to continue to pray for all levels and positions in our government  whether we voted for them or not .   Sometimes it may not be easy ,but we learned that it is for our benefit.

Prayer Request

 Kim’s husbands job interview

R-E-S-P-E-C-T… we found out what it really means March 17, 2009

Session 3 was a huge eye opener for many of us.  I think the two most important things to remember is one, Honor and Respect do go hand in hand and two, like Maurice mentioned we need to take advantage of the opportunities God gives us to receive a full reward, by honoring those who we do not necessarily agree with or understand.  We have to respect their position, but we don’t always have to like their decisions.

Prayer Request

The Williams Family- Shannika’s grandfather past away, please pray for comfort and safe travels as they go to Atlanta.

What a great night! February 7, 2009

Hello Everyone,

Wasn’t last night awesome? Knowing that God wants to bless us with His FULL Reward encourages us to do our very best to show HONOR.  We must watch our words because as the bible says ,”The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” SO… let’s make every effort to stop the complaining and live in love, forgiveness, and patience ( all the fruits of the spirit).

Prayer Request

Please keep the following group members in your prayers for healing :                                       Ronna , Tonia, as well as Timothy and Monique Smith

Next Session

The next session will be on February 20th.  We will meet at our home at 7pm, please see the above blog for address and directions.  The title is YOUR FULL REWARD, I can’t wait to hear about God’s best for us.

Food Theme

Our theme for the next session will be “The Orient”.  Bring your favorite Chinese, Japanese, or Thai dish to share with the rest of the group. Kenrick and I will provide drinks and dessert. Please leave a comment telling us what dish you will be bringing so that we don’t have too much of one item

We’re back… and we missed you! January 14, 2009

Filed under: Food Themes,Honor's Reward Sessions — lifegrouptgif @ 5:17 pm

Hello Family,

It has been a long time, but we are back.  After taking some time to regroup and get adjusted to having two kiddos, we will be starting our group back on Friday, February 6th, 2009.  We will begin introductions and housekeeping items right at 7pm.  Please note that due to this being the first session we will most likely go past the normal  7pm -8:30pm time frame.  We will be starting the series Honor’s Reward by John Bevere and it is going to be a wonderful study.  Our address is 11516 Erwin Ridge Ave Charlotte 28213, click here for directions http://maps.google.com/.   Also, don’t forget we want to be a blessing to our sitters and are asking for a $2.00 per child donation at every session.  Kenrick and I will be taking care of the food and drinks this time around.

We need you to do two things:

1.  Please leave a comment telling us whether you will be attending or not and how many people, including children, you will be bringing.

2.  Please subscribe to this blog by clicking on the subscription link on the bottom right hand side.  This way you will be notified of any updates and important information about our LDG.

We can’t wait to fellowship with you, Kenrick and Chanda
